The Sonic games use to be good. But now Sega is too obsessed with making Sonic modern and adding fancy 3D visuals, questionable voice acting, and a story.
Enter Freedom Planet, from developer Galaxy Trail, an upcoming Wii U action platformer thats just as fast as the older Sonic games and stays 2D. That said, the game does look really beautiful and has some very unique enemies, unlike those old Sonic games. Plus you have multiple main characters you can play as & the character design is fantastic. It does have a story, but its doesn't look like it'll get in the way of the action.
The game DOES have the questionable voice acting of the new Sonic games though. But you don't have to listen to it. You can choose between full voice acting, text boxes (like rpgs), or just get right into the action like the old school Sonic games. It also has some modern extras, like achievements!
Freedom Planet looks like its going to be a really cool game.
